Welcome to Holly McCann's Piano Studio!

 

My studio is open to all ages of students, from pre-k to adult.  My music education and teaching experience of over 35 years enables me to work well with all ages, solve technical problems, and teach a wide variety of music styles.  I teach everything from Classical to Pop, and also include learning how to play from a fake book.  Learning to play chords quickly is an essential skill for a pianist to learn, and the best way to learn is to play from a fake book.

My recently self-published book "Fake Book Fundamentals", is available on Amazon here.  I use this book with ALL of my students of all ages and levels.  Through song examples and lead sheets, the pianist learns how to play chords with a melody and create their own arrangements instead of always reading other people's arrangements.

 

I consider playing the piano a life-long skill.  I want my students to enjoy playing when they become adults, so I gear my curriculum towards that goal.  If the student decides that a musical career is their dream, we work diligently towards that goal, learning all types of music, especially technical exercises and classical pieces.  

 

I approach students as individuals and attempt to challenge each according to their own unique potential.  During a course of study, I attempt to cover all areas of musicianship:  theory, technique, analysis, ear-training, sight-reading, performance, and a comprehensive study of musical repertoire.

ONLINE LESSONS are now available for any student who lives out of the area, or for students who would prefer to stay home because of Covid-19.
